Hi All,
Greetings of the day.
I have a couple of Mikrotik NetMetal5 devices (

which uses Mikrotik RouteOS inside it by default.
I want to install batman-adv in them to connect them with some of my own
device and create mesh with them.
I tried to install openwrt in these devices first since RouteOS does not
support batman-adv.
I followed steps mentioned in https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/common

page but after sending the elf file to the router from a TFTP server, I was
not able to proceed further as there is no comport present in this router.
I am also not able to connect with the router after that, I had to do
factory reset to access the device again with its older configuration.
I have some questions related to this:
1. Can we install openwrt in routers which does not have support for
comport? If yes, please give me some direction on how to do it.
2. Even if I solder a com port in a router board, will it help to install
the openwrt and try to boot with it?
3. What are the router devices available, where I can install the openwrt
and then batman-adv manually?
